But upon a homecoming to their homebase kingdom of Emon, a force of dragons, called the Chroma Conclave, descended upon the region. Had I been the DM we would have had to have a serious and uncomfortable talk after that, even if nothing else he did on the show was enough. At the end of Critical Role’s The Legend of Vox Machina season 1 (animated by Titmouse Animation), the merry messy band of Vox Machina restored the sun and justice to Percy’s home kingdom of Whitestone. I will note, however, that the Briarwoods arc this series deals with is the very same plot-arc he tried to derail in one of his final episodes on the show by insisting on trying to use his noble status to attempt to call in an army to just do all the work for them, when it was a whole elaborate plot-arc centered around another character's backstory. There was also some controversy over his (now non-player) character being killed off in the campaign. There were accusations of mishandling funds, and he did and said some toxic things online. Whatever happened, after leaving the show Orion kickstarted a spin-off series of audio-dramas about his character. And much of the on-screen "drama" is very much in the eye of the beholder. Naturally observers trying to speculate as to what exactly happened try to parse the on-screen "drama" but that may be virtually the whole story or just the tip of the iceberg. We also know he (in some people's estimation) displayed a variety of behaviors in game, on stream that many would find problematic, including general powergaming, main-character syndrome, suspiciously good rolls, and some off-color remarks that others in the group seemed to not appreciate, but what, if any, of this in front of the cameras behavior may have contributed to him leaving the group and what else happened behind the scenes is unknown to us. They had an (allegedly) mutual separation of which the exact details have never been publicly shared. However, all of that would be contingent on the show getting a lot of interest. They could release Mighty Nein season 1 between Legend of Vox Machina 2 and 3, and then even start producing a show based upon campaign 3 two years after that and not see it hit the air until Campaign 4 begins and 4 seasons of Vox Machina ends. They'll complete story arcs far faster on CR than they will on Legends of Vox Machina - in fact, they may start producing Legends of the Mighty Nein right after Season 1 is released if it is a hit. They don't need to fear running out of material - they can easily transition to Campaign 2 and then Campaign 3. and you might get a "Vox Machina Origins" season for a season 4. The final 'secret' arc could be a season 3. They did extend season 2 to 14 episodes from the 10 of season 1, and there were some draggy CR episodes in those 45 episodes and elements they may wish to steer clear of for contested rights reasons. Season 1 will be the Briarwood Arc (around 15 episodes depending upon how you measure it), and then the second season might be the entire Chroma Conclave storyline that spans 45 episodes (40% of the campaign). I'm sure they'll keep the core beats that are beloved - but that table read isn't exactly a cut and paste from an episode. As such, they make skip parts of arcs, make up connecting pieces, or alter the story significantly. They've made it clear that they're making a show, not doing a direct translation of the game.
